General Description:
The Data Center Sales Engineer for AK Power Solutions is responsible for developing technical solutions and driving sales growth within the data center sector. This role combines technical expertise with strategic market engagement to identify opportunities, design electrical and electronic power conversion solutions such as transformer, switch gear, rectifiers and DC-DC converters and foster strong customer relationships. The ideal candidate will have a technical background in electrical and power electronics based power conversion and distribution equipment and experience in sales within the data center market.
Job Duties:
Technical Sales Support:
- Develop and propose technical solutions tailored to data center requirements, ensuring alignment with customer specifications and project needs.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to create accurate and effective quotations for customers.
Market Analysis:
- Continuously assess the data center market, identifying trends, key players, and growth opportunities.
- Develop strategies to penetrate the data center sector with transformer solutions tailored to specific needs.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the data center market, including hyperscale operators, co-location developers, and EPCs.
- Act as a technical advisor to customers, addressing questions and providing guidance on transformer products and applications.
- Maintain a robust sales pipeline, tracking inquiries, quotes, and bookings.
- Monitor outstanding proposals and follow up to improve hit rates and meet sales targets.
- Lead negotiations on major opportunities, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal teams, including engineering, production, and quality assurance, to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Provide market feedback to support product development and innovation initiatives.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Regularly report sales activities, market intelligence, and performance metrics to senior management.
- Analyze competitor activities and adjust strategies to maintain a competitive edge.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience in transformer sales. 5-10 years of experience preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of transformers, rectifiers, integrated electrical transformer/switch gear, DC-DC converters and power distribution systems.
- Proven track record of success in sales, particularly within the data center or power distribution industries.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address customer needs and identify opportunities.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
