Job Summary

IMI is seeking a full-time, sales-driven Business Development Specialist local to the Athens, GA area.

Essential Functions
  • Generate and qualify new sales leads through prospecting, market research, cold outreach, trade shows, and industry networking.
  • Support outside sales and leadership with pipeline development, CRM management, and opportunity tracking.
  • Participate in customer meetings, job walks, and site visits to identify project opportunities.
  • Assist with preparation of proposals, bids, sales presentations, and qualification packages.
  • Conduct market and competitor research to identify target accounts and growth opportunities.
  • Coordinate with operations, estimating, and leadership to align customer needs with IMI capabilities.
  • Support trade shows, conferences, and client events as sales and relationship‑building tools.
  • Maintain and update sales collateral, digital content, and customer‑facing materials. Support business development initiatives through lead generation, market research, and customer outreach.
  • Strengthen IMI’s brand presence across digital platforms, trade publications, and industry channels.
  • Plan and execute trade shows, conferences, client events, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Manage website content, social media, email marketing, and promotional materials.
  • Coordinate closely with sales, operations, and leadership to align messaging with capabilities.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Experience in B2B sales, business development, or sales support (industrial or construction preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, initiate customer conversations, and support deal progression.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with a professional, customer‑facing presence.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, sales tracking tools, and Microsoft Office.
  • Self‑motivated, goal‑oriented, and comfortable supporting revenue targets and growth initiatives.
Work Environment / Physical Demands
  • Stand or walk for long periods of time, including jobsite visits.
  • Manual dexterity needed for repetitive tasks and operating standard office equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs, occasionally more with assistance.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% to fabrication shops, jobsites, customer offices, and industry events.
