The Role

The Inside Sales Account Manager grows revenue from new and existing customers and serves as their primary day-to-day contact—from first inquiry through quoting, order fulfillment, and invoicing. Reporting to the Director of Sales and Business Development and working alongside two colleagues on the sales team, the role manages accounts, qualifies and pursues new business, and keeps every interaction current in Hub Spot.

It partners closely with Operations, Production, Marketing, and Finance to deliver accurate quotes, on-time delivery, and an outstanding customer experience.

Core Responsibilities Grow and Manage Accounts
  • Own assigned accounts as the primary point of contact, building relationships through consistent, proactive communication.
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries on products, pricing, availability, and order status.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing business and add qualified opportunities to the sales funnel.
  • Escalate complex commercial or strategic opportunities to the Director of Sales and Business Development.
Win New Business
  • Qualify inbound leads and prospect for new customers by phone, email, referrals, webinars, trade shows, and marketing campaigns.
  • Generate and follow up on quotations promptly.
  • Onboard new customers and set up their accounts.
  • Meet defined sales-activity and revenue goals.
Manage Quotes and Orders
  • Process orders from entry through fulfillment, coordinating with Operations and Production to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Monitor open orders and communicate shipment status, flagging potential delays early.
  • Resolve customer issues related to orders, shipping, pricing, and documentation.
Keep Hub Spot Current
  • Maintain accurate customer, contact, and opportunity records in Hub Spot daily.
  • Log customer interactions, quotations, sales activities, and follow-up tasks.
  • Support pipeline reporting, KPIs, and sales metrics.
  • Partner with Marketing on lead generation and promotions.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain and Production to meet customer commitments.
  • Work with Finance on customer pricing and billing questions.
  • Represent Athens at trade shows, customer meetings, and company events.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, biotechnology, life sciences, business, marketing, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • Basic understanding of biology or life-science concepts, with the ability to learn technical product information quickly.
  • Experience with reagent sales (optimal) or in biotechnology, diagnostics, laboratory products, or life sciences.
  • Two to four years in inside sales, account management, customer service, or sales support.
  • Experience with a CRM and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; highly organized with close attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, with sound problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred
  • Hands-on experience with Hub Spot.
  • Comfort communicating with scientific researchers, purchasing professionals, and distributors.
  • On-site at our Athens, Georgia facility (remote considered for right candidate).
  • Primarily desk-based, with occasional travel to trade shows and customer meetings.
  • Collaborative environment working across Sales and Production.
