Position Summary
Seeking Research Technicians to assist with Northern Bobwhite trapping, radio‑telemetry tracking, and nest checking of Northern Bobwhite as well as other associated fieldwork as part of larger experimental studies. Duties include data entry, equipment maintenance, and other tasks assigned by supervisors. Selected individuals will interact directly with the Georgia DNR. Employees will work with minimal supervision on site and must be comfortable working independently, occasionally alone after dark.
Previous experience with radio‑telemetry is desired. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, databases, and ArcGIS is desired.
- Trapping quail – 40%
- Tracking quail – 40%
- Data entry – 10%
- Equipment maintenance – 5%
- Travel between sites – 5%
Qualifications
- Interest in game bird management and ecology
- Good driving record
- Agreement/understanding of consumptive wildlife management practices
- Positive attitude and willingness to be a team player
- Experience pulling trailers
- Experience operating UTVs
- Previous gamebird work experience
- Previous telemetry, field research, and computer experience
Working toward a degree in wildlife management or a closely related field.
Physical DemandsLift up to 50 lbs. for brief periods and work in inclement weather. Driving required.
