Hiring for Experienced Security Officers
Ideal candidates will have previous security officer, security guard (armed or unarmed) experience, military and/or law enforcement experience.
Responsibilities- Deterr crime activity and misconduct.
- Respond to alarms, calls of distress, or emergencies (fire, injuries, unauthorized persons) by calling police, fire departments, and/or local emergency response teams.
- Make periodic patrols to check for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked entrances and exits, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons.
- Prepare clear, concise, accurate reports.
- Operate access control systems, utilize a computer for incident reports, navigate security software systems or applications and use email.
- Demonstrate strong customer service skills, professional demeanor, and appearance.
- Demonstrate experience managing multiple tasks, executing radio and telephone communications and performing in a high‑pressure environment.
- Other duties to be determined by the security supervisor.
- Prior law enforcement experience, military and/or corrections experience.
- Applicants must meet one or any reasonable combination of the following requirements:
- Two years of customer service experience
- Two years of security experience
- Law enforcement experience
- Corrections experience
- Military experience
- Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice or something similar
- Valid state licensing, if applicable.
- 21 years of age and high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
- Technology skills: operate access control system, utilize a computer for incident reports, operate security software systems or applications, use email.
- Strong customer service skills, professional demeanor and appearance.
- Experience managing multiple tasks, executing radio and telephone communications while performing in a medium to high pressure environment with frequently changing and/or competing demands.
- Familiarity with report writing.
- Excellent surveillance and observation skills.
- Above average written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to interact effectively with client staff and the public.
- Training in CPR and First Aid preferred.
