It operates as a self-supporting auxiliary with a $59 million budget derived from student housing fees and other non-state sources. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications: Five years of experience, or vocational training in one of the applicable trades; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Position Summary

This position provides general oversight of the facilities systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing and others) and various structural elements in a facilities zone. Work tasks include trouble shooting and performing advanced maintenance, ensuring efficient operations and overseeing preventative/reactive maintenance activities. These activities include system review of HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, access control, fire safety and structural elements. The position supports one of five facilities zones housing 1,000 – 3,500 residents and maintains knowledge of systems within the assigned area, with cross-training to support adjacent zones.

Skills, and Competencies
  • Communication and collaboration skills with facilities colleagues, residence hall staff, residents and stakeholders.
  • Safely operates and uses tools associated with the skilled trade.
  • Broad knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, low voltage and related systems to oversee operations and diagnose status.
  • Ability to follow workplace rules and UGAPolicies and procedures.
  • Professional relationships with staff, residents and customers; team player with independent decision-making ability.
  • Proficiency with work order systems, Microsoft Office, UGA email, and employee websites.
Physical Demands
  • Climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolds; may work from a ladder or scaffold.
  • Bend at waist and knees; work with arms overhead for extended periods.
  • Use hand tools and power tools.
  • Lift and move items at least 60 pounds; crawl as needed.
  • Occasional outdoor work in hot or cold weather.
  • Safely operate a UGA state vehicle as necessary.
