Position SummaryTroubleshoot and conduct routine repairs to fleet vehicles. Perform limited maintenance repairs on transit buses within safety and manufacturer’s specifications. Candidates should submit to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with USDOT regulations.
Responsibilities- Provides basic to intermediate-level mechanical repairs on transit buses as assigned by the supervisor. (50%)
- Remove and replace broken components on diesel/electric buses as assigned by the supervisor. (20%)
- Complete assigned work orders and submit them to the supervisor for approval. Complete all necessary training as required. (15%)
- Ensure work progress is approved before starting the next task. (5%)
- Assist FT technicians with scheduled preventative maintenance.
- Keep the work area safe and clean.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain heavy-duty diesel vehicles, troubleshoot and repair complex systems such as electrical and electronics systems, climate control systems, diesel engines and transmissions.
- Ability to use computers for diagnosis, parts look-ups and other tasks.
- Provides own tools.
Heavy lifting, work in confined spaces, stooping, kneeling, standing on ladders and work platforms involved.
