Position Summary

This position reports directly to the Senior Farm Manager in the Animal and Dairy Science Department and ultimately to the Head of ADS. Responsibilities include providing day‑to‑day operational support for beef cattle, dairy, sheep, swine, and equine operations, forage production, facility maintenance and repairs, equipment operation, and assisting faculty and staff with research, teaching, and extension missions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform farm operations and facilities support under the direction of the Sr. Farm Manager.
  • Maintain herd health and safety, including pasture, fence, and irrigation management.
  • Feed, plant, cultivate, and harvest forages and operate machinery (tractor, skid steer, backhoe, dump truck, hay equipment).
  • Operate, maintain, and repair equipment (change blades, fluids, identify malfunctions, follow safety protocols).
  • Assist faculty and students with research sample and data collection.
  • Assist in breeding programs: artificial insemination, embryo transfer, breeding soundness exams, and calving/lambing support.
  • Comply with UGA policies and record‑keeping requirements.
Qualifications
  • Technical knowledge in livestock and agronomic practices, acquired through apprenticeship, a 2‑year degree, or professional certificate.
  • Welding, carpentry, basic electrical skills.
  • Ability to repair mechanical issues on vehicles and equipment.
  • Private pesticide applicator license.
  • BQA Certified.
  • Beef A.I. Certification.
Physical Demands
  • Lift, push, and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in environmental extremes and outdoor conditions.
  • Work varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Drive as needed.
Other Details

Full‑time, non‑exempt, FTE 1.00. Paid by the University of Georgia. Benefits eligible. P‑Card not required. Position may require driving.
