Position Summary: The job of Kitchen Equipment Technician is to support the Kitchen Equipment Manager in providing maintenance, repair, and preventive services to School Nutrition Program equipment. The Technician assists with completing assigned work orders, performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance activities on commercial food service equipment, supports preventive maintenance programs, assists vendors and contractors, and ensures equipment is maintained in a safe, functional, and regulation‑compliant condition.
The Technician also performs other related duties as assigned.
Education:
- High school diploma or HSE GED equivalent
Certification/License:
- EPA Refrigerant certification required
- Valid Georgia Driver's License
Work Experience:
- Minimum four (4) years of experience in food service kitchen equipment repair
Skills: Uses hand, power, and testing tools safely; operates commercial kitchen equipment and basic office equipment and software; maintains accurate service records and logs.
Knowledge: Basic knowledge of commercial food service equipment and maintenance practices; familiarity with food safety standards, OSHA requirements, and district policies; ability to read equipment manuals and schematics; basic math skills.
Abilities: Works effectively as part of a team; follows procedures and adapts to changing priorities; works positively with diverse staff; problem‑solves equipment issues; works flexible hours, including emergency situations; maintains constructive relationships; lifts, moves, and works with equipment in a physically demanding environment.
Essential Duties- Demonstrates prompt attendance and follows instructions from the Kitchen Equipment Manager and supervisors.
- Communicates professionally with staff, personnel, vendors, and sites, providing updates on work orders, repairs, and equipment status.
- Assists in diagnosing and repairing malfunctions in commercial equipment under supervision.
- Performs routine and preventive maintenance to ensure functionality, safety, and compliance.
- Supports plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, ventilation, and other skilled trade tasks as assigned.
- Inspects equipment for needed repairs and follows established procedures.
- Assists in installing, removing, and relocating equipment, reading schematics and manuals.
- Maintains clean, organized, and safe work areas, tools, and equipment in compliance with food safety and OSHA standards.
- Coordinates with Manager, vendors, and contractors to secure parts and complete repairs.
- Operates and maintains district vehicles, tools, and equipment; responds to emergency calls and participates in training.
- Assists in training school nutrition staff on equipment care, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient operation of the unit.

Position Type: Full‑Time
Salary: $47,360.70 to $67,369 Per Year
Job Requirements- At least 4 years of relevant experience preferred.
