Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair defects on fleet vehicles. Perform maintenance on transit buses and other fleet vehicles in accordance with industry standards, safe practices, and manufacturer’s specifications. Applicants submit to drug and alcohol testing by the US Department of Transportation.
Responsibilities- Basic to complex maintenance work on vehicles as assigned by supervisor, including troubleshooting, disassembly, repair, assembly, and installation of automotive and diesel engines, transmissions, large and small electric/pneumatic/hydraulic components, and chassis repairs on buses and other fleet vehicles.
- Complete repairs within established guidelines under supervision and guidance of supervisor and independently diagnose, rebuild as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Complete work order, inventory, parts usage reports, and other associated paperwork in a timely manner.
- Fuel and service late night vehicles to prepare for next day operation and complete associated paperwork.
- Attend classroom and other training as available.
- Perform other tasks as directed.
- Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, formal training programs, or on-the-job training. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain heavy‑duty diesel vehicles and troubleshoot and repair complex systems such as electrical and electronics, climate control systems, diesel engines, and transmissions.
- Proficiency in using computers for diagnostics, parts look‑ups, and related tasks.
Heavy lifting, work in confined spaces, stooping, kneeling, standing on ladders and work platforms, driving. This position requires driving. This role has security access.
