This position offers a 40 hour work week. Hours and schedule may vary to include nights as well as some weekends as needed to meet departmental goals, deadlines and/or emergencies. This position is also part of an on-call rotating schedule.

- Minimum Qualifications:
Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, formal training programs, or on-the-job training. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
- Preferred Qualifications:
This position is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing commercial kitchen equipment, performing general building maintenance tasks and preventative maintenance for equipment and dining facilities. General maintenance tasks include plumbing, electrical work, painting, wall covering, low-grade construction, etc. The employee will be assigned work orders daily by the Maintenance Foreman and provide status updates on completion via service reports. If needed, the position will submit work orders to the Facilities Management Division (FMD) for maintenance tasks beyond the scope of the role.
Knowledge,Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
- Troubleshooting skills for commercial kitchen equipment using schematics and manuals.
- Basic plumbing, electrical work, and general maintenance skills.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with staff and customer groups; supportive involvement in the work environment.
- Team player with ability to work independently and follow through on assignments.
- Efficient use of computer applications in task completion.
Climb stairs and ladders, may work from a ladder or scaffold. Bend at the waist and knees. Work with arms and hands overhead for extended periods. Use, care for, and maintain hand tools and power tools. Navigate confined spaces, crawl in utility tunnels, attics, pipe chases, etc. Lift and move items up to 75 pounds. May work outdoors in hot or cold conditions.
Safely operate a UGA state vehicle as necessary.
