Position Summary

Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots a variety of electrical equipment and systems. Also conducts preventive and general maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as primary electrician for Savannah River Ecology Lab maintenance department.
  • Work with general maintenance mechanics completing preventive maintenance requirements as needed.
  • Collaborate with contractors (HVAC, electrical, construction) to facilitate their work and interface with Savannah River Site contractors.
  • Ensure all work adheres to Savannah River Site DOE/NNSA standards.
  • Make urgent or unplanned supplies purchases for repairs.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of related experience.
  • Experience with electrical systems up to 480 volts and ability to provide general maintenance, construction, and HVAC support.
  • Strong communication skills: clear speaking, writing, active listening, and conveying information effectively.
  • Ability to work with electricity and assist with facility renovation and construction.
  • Eligibility for driving and must be able to drive as required.
  • Must hold a valid P-Card; credit check required.
  • Background investigation required. Pre-employment drug test may be required.
Physical Demands

Lift up to 50 lbs and work outside in various climate conditions.

Additional Information

Position is non‑exempt and requires working Monday through Friday, 8:00‑5:00. The role is considered a position of trust and has security access. The University of Georgia is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
