Job DescriptionPosition Summary:
Troubleshoot and conduct routine repairs to fleet vehicles. Perform limited maintenance repairs on transit buses within safety and manufacturer’s specifications.
Job duties include:
- Provide basic to intermediate‑level mechanical repairs on transit buses as assigned by the supervisor (50% of time).
- Remove and replace broken components on diesel/electric buses as assigned by the supervisor (20% of time).
- Complete assigned work orders and submit them to the supervisor for approval; complete all necessary training as required (15% of time).
- Ensure work progress is approved before starting the next task (5% of time).
- Assist full‑time technicians with scheduled preventative maintenance (5% of time).
- Keep the work area safe and clean (5% of time).
- Demonstrated ability to maintain heavy‑duty diesel vehicles, troubleshoot and repair complex systems such as electrical and electronics systems, climate control systems, diesel engines, and transmissions.
- Ability to use computers for diagnosis, parts look‑ups, and other tasks.
- Must be able to lift heavy weights, work in confined spaces, stoop, kneel, and stand on ladders and work platforms.
- Must have own tools.
- Candidate must submit to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with USDOT regulations.
