Skilled Trades Worker
Employment Type: Full Time
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
Location: Athens, GA
- Salary: $35,500 or commensurate with experience
- Opening Until: Filled
- Proposed Starting Date: 08/31/2026
- Perform skilled manual work at the journeyman level in the trades: painter, mason, floor cover installer, carpentry.
- General construction and maintenance responsibilities for large facilities under general supervision.
- Operate standard hand tools and equipment common to the structural trades.
- Perform routine troubleshooting of MEP systems.
- Prepare work‑related documents (work orders, vouchers, reports).
- Communicate via phone and in person to coordinate work.
- Perform incidental duties such as erecting and moving scaffolds, washing and pressure washing walls, cleaning after a job.
- Document actions and timekeeping in writing.
- Support painters, carpenters, masons, and floor cover installers in their assignments.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: Journeyman‑level experience in at least one of the employed trades.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards of mechanical and electrical building equipment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Good interpersonal skills with customers, co‑workers, supervisors.
- Ability to work in extreme conditions, confined spaces, locked‑out situations.
- Lift up to 75 lbs.
- Stand, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, work with hands above head.
- Work in hot or cold, trenches, confined spaces, attics, crawlspaces, mechanical rooms.
- Work from standard and extended ladders.
- Drive as necessary to perform job duties.
