Qualifications:
- Master's Degree or higher with valid Georgia social worker certificate.
- High school social working experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders in the virtual instruction program in written and oral form, including electronic media, using positive interpersonal skills.
- Experience with a virtual learning environment preferred.
- This position requires availability from 11:00am – 4:00pm.
Job Responsibilities:
- Help all students overcome barriers so they may participate in school regularly and be successful.
- Collaborate with Student Services team to monitor identified students. Develop intervention strategies to help them return to school.
- As-needed by referral, counsel with students and parents; help families cope with economic struggles such as financial needs, housing, applying for Medicare/Medicaid, childcare, etc.
- Conduct virtual small group and individual sessions with students and parents/guardians.
- Track data on agency referrals, McKinney-Vento referrals, suicide protocol and attendance concerns.
- Contribute to monthly Student Services newsletter with updates on self-care, mindfulness, wellness strategies, etc.
- Provide virtual crisis counseling services as requested by Counselor, Site Administrator, or any other Foothills staff for families needing medical treatment, mental health services, legal services, or other community services.
- Generate a resource list for students and families.
- Work closely with student services team in regards to drop-out prevention and recovery, McKinney-Vento, migrant education services, mandated reporter obligations, suicide awareness trainings.
- Assist in creating transition plans for students who are hospitalized and/or hospital homebound.
- Serve as liaison between Foothills and public/private agencies on an as-needed basis.
- Record all contacts in the "Contact Log" in the Counseling area of Infinite Campus.
- Present at virtual staff meetings to build social-emotional capacity for employees.
- Meet the performance and behavioral expectations of the Site Director.
- Comply with all FERPA requirements for the virtual environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Site Director.
