With over 1,000 global Fly Mates, representing more than 40 nationalities, and in 14 offices worldwide, we’re looking for Fly Mates to join the next stage of our journey as we continue to grow.

As a Fly‑tern, you will be embedded within a Platform delivery team. While you’ll participate in team rituals, your primary focus will be a specific, high‑impact project designed for your six‑week journey.

You will have a dedicated support system:

• A Mentor: A senior engineer for day‑to‑day technical guidance, pair programming, and code reviews.
• A Manager:
  To support your professional growth, provide feedback, and help you navigate the Flywire culture.

Possible domains include:

• Core Money Movement:
  Developing the high‑precision backend logic (Ruby/Java) that tracks funds, handles currency exchange, and manages the global ledger.
• Banking & Network Integrations:
  Optimizing the APIs and “pipes” that connect Flywire to financial institutions worldwide.

We believe in using the best tools to build the best software. As an intern, you will learn to leverage cutting‑edge AI tools like Claude Code and Codex Cursor to accelerate your development, automate repetitive tasks, and focus on solving complex architectural problems.

• Current student in the 4th year of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, or Data Science. We highly value candidates from double degrees in Mathematics and Informatics Engineering, as well as specialized degrees in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or Informatics Engineering.

Tech Foundations:
Familiarity with React (for frontend projects) or Ruby/Java (for backend projects). You should have a solid grasp of data structures and SQL.

The “Platform” mindset:
You are curious about how large‑scale systems work, you value robust clean code and testing (TDD), and you enjoy building tools that are used by other developers and millions of payers.

Communication:
Fluency in Spanish and a strong working command of English to collaborate with our global teams.

Backend skills:
Ruby on Rails or Java (Spring Boot).

AI & Tools:
Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Git Lab CI, AWS.
