Grantsmanship Development Professional

Under the direction of the Director in the Office for Strategic Research Development, perform professional level duties related to the development of research grant writing ability and knowledge ("grantsmanship") across the University of Georgia's research enterprise. This includes working intensively with individual faculty to develop grant proposals and instruct them in grantsmanship. It also includes developing and delivering grantsmanship workshops and other outreach activities.

This position requires experience working closely with academic faculty; knowledge of research grant proposal development; and superior writing, editing, and proofreading ability.

Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills

Strong customer service orientation and commitment

High level of initiative

Experience in people management (negotiation, motivation, fostering ownership, and influencing and leading)

Duties/Responsibilities
- Faculty Grantsmanship Development:

Assist academic research faculty in developing funding strategies for their program of research; advise on which funding opportunities are well suited to their research interests and stage of professional development.

Work closely with faculty to develop the narrative components of research grant proposals for extramural funding. Proofread and edit grant proposal narrative documents for grammar, clarity, style, and impact. Work with faculty to improve their argument for funding.

Use independent judgment to create templates or outlines for project narratives and other complex proposal parts that align with the solicitation and other sponsor selection criteria.

Connect faculty to resources on campus to help strengthen their proposals.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Grantsmanship Training and Outreach:

Develop grantsmanship resources to assist faculty university-wide in successfully developing their research funding portfolios. These activities include but are not limited to panel discussions, grant writing workshops, guest speaker visits, and on-demand grantsmanship modules. Recruit faculty to participate in panel discussions and other events. Promote and advertise events toUGAresearch community. Emcee and provide logistical support for events.

Deliver presentations and info sessions about grant funding, grant writing, andOSRDservices toUGAdepartments, schools, and centers and institutes.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Project Management for Large, Complex Grant Proposals:

In a supporting role, participate in the development of large multi-institutional, multi-disciplinary grant and contract proposals. As directed by theOSRDproject lead, organize meetings; collect, review, and manage documents; provide feedback on narrative pieces.

Edit grant proposal documents for compliance, grammar, clarity, style, and impact.
