Safety Sensitive: CDL – subject to random drug testing per the Athens‑Clarke County Drug and Alcohol Ordinance.

The purpose of this job is to operate a mainline bus or specialized van. Duties and responsibilities include picking up and dropping off passengers, collecting fares, operating a vehicle along prescribed routes, transporting paratransit/demand response passengers, providing good customer service, and performing additional tasks as assigned.

Work Schedule
:
Transit hours of operation are 5:30 a.m. – 10:45 p.m., seven days a week. Daily schedule is provided to extra board operators 72 hours in advance. When a permanent shift becomes available, all employees will have an opportunity to bid based on seniority.

May be required to work on religious holidays.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Must work cooperatively with others.
When vehicle operation is required, the employee is responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC’s safe driving policy.

This position is designated as an emergency position that requires attendance at work under all types of emergency conditions. Examples of emergencies include inclement weather, utility failure, fire, forced evacuations, or as determined by the manager.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Customer service and/or experience working with the elderly or disabled is preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license at time of hire.
• Must obtain a full valid Georgia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) permit within six (6) weeks of hire.
• Must obtain a full valid Georgia CDL with passenger endorsement within four (4) months of hire.

• High school diploma or GED required; one year of experience operating a mainline bus and/or specialized van preferred.
• Experience working with the elderly or disabled is also preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver’s CDL license with passenger endorsement at time of hire.
