Ohio University seeks an Intermittent Transit Driver to support students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The role involves operating various vehicle types—including 14‑passenger shuttle buses, passenger vans, and sedans—to provide fixed‑route, on‑demand, accessibility, and special‑event transportation services. The driver maintains safe, efficient transport and complies with all university, state, and federal regulations.

• Intermittent status: scheduled as needed, not to exceed 1,000 hours in any rolling 12‑month period.
• Shift hours typically between 4:30 PM and 11:30 PM; evenings and weekends included.
• No guaranteed hours or benefits associated with intermittent status.
• Possible one‑time retention bonus of $750, discussed at hire.
• Duty includes monitoring campus transportation, overseeing permit parking, attending events, and ensuring vehicle safety and documentation compliance.

• Operate university transit vehicles safely and responsibly, following all traffic laws.
• Assist passengers with luggage and mandatory mandatory vehicle loading processes.
• Conduct routine vehicle inspections, detailing, and cleaning.
• Maintain accurate transportation and safety documentation.
• Use scheduling software and other technology for route and assignment management.
• Respond to changing traffic, weather, and emergency situations effectively.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Ohio Class D driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Prior professional driving experience preferred.
• Experience working with the public and a customer‑care orientation.
• Ability to learn and use scheduling software.
• Must provide 10 years of employment history as required by FMCSA regulations.

Hourly pay ranges from $11.60 to $17.40, with a target range of $11.60 to $14.50, commensurate with education and experience.
