Accountant/Office Manager
The Ohio University Research Division is seeking an Accountant/Office Manager to assist with all accounting and financial transactions for all of the Research Division departments. This position will work with the Director of Budget & Operations to approve all financial transactions for the unit, assist with budget development and preparation, prepare quarterly trial balance reports, and audit unit financial accounts for accuracy.
This position will also complete daily operational tasks (to include purchasing, preparing journal entries, preparing financial reports) to ensure the daily functioning of the unit. This position will work with the Director of Budget & Operations, other unit directors, and Associate Vice Presidents' of Research to provide strategic financial planning, ensuring the efficient allocation of unit resources.
Performs accounting functions for moderately complex financial accounts such as analyzing, monitoring, reconciling, and reporting financial information. Prepares reports, financial statements, and processes other requests for internal and external accounting and auditing. May include activities relating to developing, implementing, and monitoring accounting systems, policies and procedures. Oversees financial reporting, audits, and internal controls to maintain fiscal integrity. Provides strategic financial planning, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources.
Assists external auditors, as required. Reviews accounts to ensure data integrity.
Provides professional expertise to the University community. Serves as a resource and guide to others in the department and/or university. Completes operational tasks essential for the daily functioning of the University. Additionally, contributes to larger projects or initiatives that align with department or University goals, often collaborating across teams.
May assist in mentoring or training new employees.
No budgetary responsibility. May be responsible for validating transactions.
Handles a variety of problems with some independence.
Some supervision; able to work independently on routine tasks.
Collaborates with team members and shares knowledge.
This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or in a related field and 3-5 years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting practices required.
Ohio University financial systems (i.e. Oracle financial systems, BobcatBUY purchasing, Concur reporting) experience is preferred.
This position is a Pay Grade 16 and starting salary will depend on candidate's experience and qualifications. The hiring range for the position will be between $44,592 and $59,085 annually.
