Accounting Support Senior Specialist

Ohio University is hiring an Accounting Support Senior Specialist who manages the organization's accounting functions by maintaining accurate financial records, conducting financial analyses, and supporting purchasing and budget monitoring. The role also involves customer interaction, coaching staff, supervising employees, and ensuring compliance with university policies.

• Maintain records of daily transactions, accounts receivable/payable, inventories, payroll, and other financial data.
• Serve as initial contact for customers and mentor lower-level employees on customer service and policies.
• Direct, train, and supervise staff or student employees.
• Perform financial analyses and provide data-driven recommendations.
• Review others' work for accuracy and compliance with standards and policies.
• Issue purchase orders and manage purchasing communication with internal and external customers.
• Analyze and monitor departmental and program budgets; approve and track expenditures.
• Required knowledge includes finance and business processes typically gained through a high school diploma or GED plus five years of related experience.
• Preferred experience includes academic support, grant management support, university financial systems, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Compensation ranges from $16.84 to $21.48 per hour based on experience and education, with a comprehensive benefits package including tuition, insurance, retirement, and wellness programs.
