Department Summary
- The Accounts and Operations Manager reports to the Director of Budget & Operations and performs accounting, financial and operational activities in support of the Research Division. This position will work with the Director of Budget & Operations, other unit directors, and two Associate Vice Presidents' of Research to provide strategic financial planning, ensuring the efficient allocation of unit resources. Responsibilities include assisting with budget preparation and development, developing and communicating financial analysis and reports, reconciling and monitoring financial accounts, and reviewing financial transactions for accuracy and compliance in accordance with university policies and procedures, unit guidelines, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).This

role is responsible for independently reviewing and reconciling assigned accounts, identifying discrepancies, researching issues, and recommending corrective actions to maintain accurate and compliant financial records. The decisions made by this position impact the financial integrity and account compliance of the Research Division. This position may provide guidance and day-to-day supervision to student employees.

Position Profile
- Performs accounting functions for moderately complex financial accounts such as analyzing, monitoring, reconciling, and reporting financial information. Prepares reports, financial statements, and processes other requests for internal and external accounting and auditing. May include activities relating to developing, implementing, and monitoring accounting systems, policies and procedures. Oversees financial reporting, audits, and internal controls to maintain fiscal integrity. Provides strategic financial planning, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources.

Assists external auditors, as required. Reviews accounts to ensure data integrity.

Level Summary
- Provides professional expertise to the University community. Serves as a resource and guide to others in the department and/or university. Completes operational tasks essential for the daily functioning of the University. Additionally, contributes to larger projects or initiatives that align with department or University goals, often collaborating across teams.

Supervisory Responsibilities
- May assist in mentoring or training new employees.

Fiscal Responsibilities
- No budgetary responsibility. May be responsible for validating transactions.

Problem Solving
- Handles a variety of problems with some independence.

Independence of Action
- Some supervision; able to work independently on routine tasks.

Communication and Collaboration
- Collaborates with team members and shares knowledge.

Physical Requirements
- This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.

Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or in a related field and 3-5 years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting practices required.

Preferred Qualifications
- Ohio University financial systems (i.e. Oracle financial systems, BobcatBUY purchasing, Concur reporting) experience is preferred.

Pay Rate
- This position is a Pay Grade 16 and starting salary will depend on candidate's experience and qualifications. The hiring range for the position will be between $44,592 and $59,085 annually.
