Student Content Assistant

The student content assistant will be responsible for supporting content creation for the Division's newsletter, Keeping Bobcats Informed, as well as assisting in other division-wide communications. The assistant will draft copy for the biweekly email and adapt for other platforms as needed as well as write student affairs articles for OHIO News. The assistant will support text edits across Student Affairs websites.

The assistant will also gather and resize images for newsletter content. Content areas include programs, events, jobs, student life stories, features on student organizations and more. The preferred candidate should have experience with email marketing, journalism, copy writing, feel connected to campus life, and demonstrate passion for Ohio University. They will be self-motivated, creative, and capable of managing several projects s candidate will work within the University's developed brand.

Details: 10 hours per week. Pay is $12.35 per hour. Position begins in August. Eligible candidates must be available to work a minimum of two semesters with the Vice President for Student Affairs due to the duration of the training process.

Job Profile:
Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Performs a variety of tasks to support University Communications & Marketing. Duties may include writing and editing communications and news stories, managing social media content, updating websites and multimedia content, designing promotional materials, supporting marketing campaigns, and assisting with event communications.

Level

Summary:

Performs basic tasks and assists with administrative or operational duties under supervision. Roles are entry-level and aimed at providing exposure to workplace environments.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Limited supervisory responsibilities. May supervise other student workers.

Fiscal Responsibilities:
No budgetary responsibility.

Problem Solving:
Addresses routine, well-defined problems under supervision.

Independence of Action:
Works under close supervision.

Communication and

Collaboration:

Communicates primarily with supervisor and peers. Collaborates with team members to accomplish tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:

Enrolled for classes at Ohio University, Hocking College, another post-secondary education institution, or a secondary school during the current semester, immediate previous semester, or immediate upcoming semester. Able to follow instructions and complete tasks within deadlines. Basic knowledge of office software and communication tools. Departments may have specific minimum requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with project management software, website editing, email marketing platforms like Emma or Mailchimp.

Working Condition/Physical Demands:
This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.
