Position Information Business Title Student Office Assistant Special Instructions to Applicants Posting Number STD Department Summary The position requires basic familiarity and knowledge of office practices and procedures in order to work effectively within a limited range of work situation. Handle, alphabetize and file confidential documents. Assist with routine office tasks; working with student files, retrieving online applications, run errands.

Job Profile Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Provides administrative support in an office setting, including tasks such as answering phones and emails, responding to customer inquiries, writing communications, and supporting staff with day-to-day operations. Level Summary Performs basic tasks and assists with administrative or operational duties under supervision. Roles are entry-level and aimed at providing exposure to workplace environments.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Limited supervisory responsibilities. May supervise other student workers. Fiscal Responsibilities:

Communicates primarily with supervisor and peers. Collaborates with team members to accomplish tasks.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Enrolled for classes at Ohio University, Hocking College, another post-secondary education institution, or a secondary school during the current semester, immediate previous semester, or immediate upcoming semester.
  • Able to follow instructions and complete tasks within deadlines.
  • Basic knowledge of office software and communication tools.
  • Departments may have specific minimum requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient in the use of computers;
    Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Possess excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to alphabetize and collaborate with co-workers.
  • Must be comfortable with conducting internet searches, self-motivated, and able to follow directions.
  • Preference given to students who can work the full calendar year.

Working Condition/Physical Demands:
This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.
