Job Description
The Russ College of Engineering and Technology's Engineering Technology and Management Department (ETM) at Ohio University invites applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible, visiting assistant professor of instruction in Engineering Technology and Management. The appointment of the visiting assistant professor of instruction follows guidelines established in the Ohio University Faculty Handbook, and renewal is based upon satisfactory performance and continued funding. The position begins August 16, 2026, and entails 90% teaching and 10% service.
The visiting assistant professor of instruction will teach 3 to 4 courses (9-12 credit hours) per semester with multiple lab sections.
All classes taught by the successful candidate will have a lecture and lab component. Peer mentoring will be available to bring the faculty member up to proficient levels in areas beyond their expertise. The position requires:
1. Working knowledge of analog and digital electronic components, electronic circuits, micro controllers, and electromechanical devices.
2. Working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and their associated software. For example, Allen-Bradley PLCs with Studio 5000 software. Rockwell automation hardware and software are preferred, but other systems are acceptable
3. Working knowledge on applications of hydraulic (fluid power) and pneumatic systems, components, and devices.
4. Working knowledge of robots and their associated simulation software. For example, but not limited to FANUC robots and Roboguide Software.
5. Awareness of equipment safety and protocols.
Minimum Qualifications
Earned Master's degree in Engineering, Technology, or related field by the application date. The master's and bachelor's degree of the candidate must be in the related field to the position description. Minimum of two years' industry experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
Earned PhD in Engineering, Technology, or related field. Prior teaching experience at a nationally or internationally accredited university and 5 + years of industrial experience
