Job Description
Ohio University Southern invites applicants for an Assistant Professor of Instruction in Nursing, a non‑tenure track faculty position with an emphasis on instruction in the laboratory and/or clinical setting in the traditional on‑campus AAS‑N and BSN programs beginning Fall Semester 2026 (August 16, 2026). This is a full‑time 9‑month renewable position on the Southern campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating instruction primarily in the laboratory setting using various methods and modes of delivery.
Didactic and/or clinical instruction may be assigned based on program needs, expertise, and credentials.
- Meet with course faculty to develop course, clinical, and laboratory expectations for students.
- Identify student needs in terms of clinical and laboratory objectives of the relevant course(s).
- Provide instruction to students in laboratory/simulation settings or at clinical sites regarding professional attitudes, knowledge, and skills.
- Assist students in using problem‑solving techniques.
- Use varied and appropriate teaching methods effectively.
- Collaborate with course faculty to effectively measure and evaluate student performance in the laboratory and/or clinical setting.
- Be present on campus and/or at regionally located clinical site assignments throughout the academic year (August–May).
- Participate in other teaching assignments or instructional responsibilities as needed based on expertise and credentials.
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Enrollment or commitment to completing an MSN within 2 years of hire date.
- Active, unencumbered Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license prior to start date.
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months full‑time equivalent) of work experience as an RN in the United States.
- 3+ years of clinical RN experience.
- 3+ years of clinical and/or laboratory instruction in a nursing program.
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree or related field.
