Graduate Assistant - Assistant Softball Coach
Ohio Athletics is seeking a graduate assistant to assist with the development of a highly competitive Softball program along with developing student-athletes as a person, student, and athlete. Primary responsibilities include assisting in the instruction, management, and teaching of student-athletes. Other duties may include assisting with the development of and execution of meet/practice plans, coaching strategies, and teaching methods, assisting with recruitment activities, assisting with aspects of team travel, breakdown of team and opponent video, and other duties as assigned.
Duties/essential functions may include engaging with students and contributing to the growth and development of various aspects of the Ohio University experience, including student engagement, student leadership, student conduct, well-being and recreation, academic success, and campus life. Responsibilities may include supporting student government, developing student fitness and recreation programs, coordinating student events, providing student academic support, and providing administrative support to departments across the University.
Provides specialized assistance in academic or administrative tasks, leveraging advanced knowledge in a particular subject area. Supports faculty, researchers, or departments in a variety of ways. May supervise undergraduate students. May assist in managing small budgets for research projects or departmental activities. Handles complex, field-specific problems that require critical thinking and independent analysis. Works independently on assigned tasks but may consult with faculty or staff for major decisions.
Regular communication with faculty, supervisors, and peers. Collaborates with academic and administrative peers, faculty, and staff and participates in meetings or discussions to further research or projects. May interact with students, colleagues, or clients in academic settings.
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree, enrollment as a graduate student currently enrolled in an Ohio University academic program, and strong research, writing, and communication skills. This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.
