Essential Duties
- Administrative/Collaborative Communication/Liaison Duties:
Responsible for supporting administrative tasks within the electrical engineering team, fostering cross‑function collaboration and communication between Engineering, Production, Project Management and Quality Assurance, and serving as a liaison between customers and suppliers. - Cryocooler Manufacturing Support:
Provide manufacturing support for controllers, diagnose failure modes in returned hardware, participate in root‑cause analysis, troubleshoot, repair hardware, source alternate components for redesign, replacement or obsolescence, support sales and customers, manage custom hardware, interact with vendors, and comply with Quality Assurance and ISO 9001 policies. - Process Development:
Transfer new products from Engineering to Production, develop procedures and process documentation, and troubleshoot during transfer. - Product Improvement:
Redesign and modify product designs, develop new capabilities, support compliance testing and certification, and participate in the Sunpower Configuration Control Board for product and process improvement. - Other duties as assigned.
Ambition demonstrated by cooperative education, internships or other informal work experience is valued. This position will experience a wide variety of multi‑discipline tasks and opportunities to exercise a broad background of experience.
- Education:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university; or equivalent experience. - Experience:
- 3–5 years of directly related experience.
- Supervisory experience overseeing entry‑level staff or junior team members.
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Broad knowledge of engineering, project management and quality disciplines.
- Experience reading schematics and using ECAD software.
- Experience in data collection, analysis and reporting.
- Demonstrated collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of power electronics and controls, electronics development experience, and/or manufacturing support experience.
- Lean manufacturing or process improvement experience or certification.
- Experience working with a team and guiding day‑to‑day activities to achieve production goals.
- Experience managing hardware flow to meet production schedule demands.
- Experience troubleshooting hardware and software and identifying failure modes.
- Experience working within an ISO 9001, AS 9100, or relevant quality management system.
- General familiarity with laboratory equipment, processes, and safety measures.
