Natural Resources Administrator 1 (Pollution Abatement)

Position Overview

Energetic, passionate individuals who enjoy the outdoors and want to play a key role in Ohio’s Forestry Pollution Abatement Program.

Responsibilities
  • Administer Ohio’s Forestry Pollution Abatement Program.
  • Assist Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) with investigations of violations and coordination of enforcement actions.
  • Deliver trainings and presentations to technical audiences and private landowners on forestry pollution abatement and timber harvesting best practices.
  • Represent the Division of Forestry on matters related to the pollution abatement program and forest products marketing.
  • Perform wildfire support as directed within training and physical capabilities.
  • Maintain program compliance and perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 48 months training or 48 months experience in natural resources specialty (Pollution Abatement) indicated in the position description; valid driver’s license required.
  • Alternatively – undergraduate major core program with 24 months training or 24 months experience in natural resources specialty, valid driver’s license.
  • Alternatively – graduate major core program with 12 months experience in natural resources specialty, valid driver’s license.
  • Equivalent qualifications meeting the minimum class requirements.
Training and Development

Must complete basic firefighter/introduction to fire behavior course (S-130/S-190) and Introduction to Incident Command System (IC-100) within the first year of employment.

Work Conditions

Requires travel and may include physical demands of wildfire support.

Compensation

Starting hourly pay $33.32/hr with multiple pay increases over the first 6.5 years, ending at $47.47/hr cost of living adjustments (COLA) may apply. Longevity pay supplements begin after five years of state service.
