Director for Student Organizations and Campus Programming
As an integral part of the leadership of the Division of Student Affairs, the Director of Student Organizations and Campus Programming oversees major campus programming, ~550 student organizations, and Student Senate. The director cultivates respectful, effective relationships amongst the Center for Student Engagement & Leadership (CSEL) staff and campus partners and is responsible for assessment of CSEL's impact on student success.
Primary focus areas of this position are:
- Leading the success of and budgets for:
Student Organizations, Student Organization Finance, and Student Programming - Student Organization Leadership Coaching and Student Senate Advising
- Organizing the Division of Student Affairs' role in campus-wide programming
- Coordinating large university events to support student engagement including Homecoming and Welcome Week
- Supervising staff, GA's, and student employees
- Working directly with a variety of campus partners to develop policies and protocols addressing risk management, travel, etc. for all registered student organizations
Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Supports the student experience outside the classroom by developing and implementing programs that promote student integration, well-being, and success.
- Develops and implements student non-academic programs, services, and activities, including residential life, social events, public service, student conduct, leadership development, student organization advising, and other areas.
Manages a work unit or a team and has full authority over personnel actions within the work unit. Contributes to the development of the area's operational plan, ensuring alignment with broader departmental or institutional goals. Accountable for the achievement of the unit's operational objectives, improving performance and addressing resource needs.
Manages a medium-sized team. Directly oversees at least 2.0
FTE employees or one or more supervisors. Has authority to hire, transfer, suspend, promote, manage performance, discharge, assign duties, reward, and discipline employees.
Responsible for managing team or department budgets and resources.
Addresses departmental or cross-team issues, devises long-term solutions.
Acts independently, with consultation with senior management.
Facilitates communication among team and higher-level leadership, builds relationships across University.
This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 5 or more years of related professional experience, and 3 or more years of supervisory experience, or equivalent education and experience. Master's degree preferred.
