ResponsibilitiesAt the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health (DBH), Nurse Supervisors play a vital role in supporting the mental health and well-being of clients. They oversee direct care nursing services and act as a liaison between medical services and other disciplines. Specifically, their responsibilities include:
- Receives administrative direction from the Nurse Executive for the planning & implementation of total nursing care on assigned shift
- Provides general and direct supervision to nursing staff
- Makes rounds of residential areas & monitors the nursing care plan documentation, recovery-focused therapeutic programs & environmental safety residential area
- Serves as Administrative Officer of the Day (AOD) for the entire facility after hours as needed
- Must be able to complete a 4 week full time orientation (Will include 1st, 2nd, 3rd shifts, and weekends)
- May work weekends and holidays; may be exposed to communicable diseases and unpredictable patient behavior
- Training and development required to remain in the classification after employment

Requires current license as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Revised Code; 24 months experience in psychiatric nursing or delivery of nursing services to persons with developmental disabilities; 3 months training or 3 months experience in employee training & development; 3 courses or 9 months experience in public relations; 3 courses or 9 months experience in counseling.
