Job SummaryKimes Nursing and Rehab is searching for a dynamic and experienced Nurse Unit Manager (RN/LVN/LPN) to lead and oversee nursing operations within a busy skilled nursing facility. In this pivotal role you will coordinate patient care, manage nursing staff, ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, and foster a positive environment focused on delivering exceptional patient outcomes. Your leadership will drive quality improvement initiatives, optimize workflow efficiency, and uphold the highest standards of clinical excellence.
Responsibilities- Lead and supervise nursing staff, including scheduling, performance evaluations, and professional development to ensure high-quality patient care delivery.
- Oversee daily clinical operations across multiple departments, ensuring adherence to hospital policies, safety protocols, and regulatory standards such as HIPAA and NCQA.
- Coordinate patient assessments, medical documentation, and medical records management using EMR systems like Point Click Care.
- Manage complex patient cases involving acute care, long‑term care, geriatrics, and mental/behavioral health.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary communication among physicians, therapists, case managers, and support staff to promote seamless patient transitions and discharge planning.
- Ensure compliance with infection control practices, sterile processing procedures, and aseptic techniques during procedures like catheterization or venipuncture.
- Implement quality improvement initiatives focused on patient safety and patient care.
- Valid RN (Registered Nurse) licensure with current state certification.
- Proven leadership experience in a healthcare environment with supervisory responsibilities for nursing teams.
- Extensive clinical experience in the SFN/SNU setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD coding (ICD‑9/10), CPT coding, and medical documentation standards.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems for documentation and patient management.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and engage with patients' families.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications Working Conditions- Works in office area(s) as well as throughout the nursing service area (i.e., drug rooms, nurses' stations, resident rooms, etc.).
- Moves intermittently during working hours.
- Is subject to frequent interruptions.
- Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, under all conditions and circumstances.
- Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
- Communicates with the medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department directors.
- Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary. On call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
- Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post‑disaster, etc.).
- Is involved in community/civic health matters/projects as appropriate.
- Attends and participates in continuing educational programs.
- Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as to reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
- Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
- May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
