Job DescriptionThis position focuses on supporting adults in a residential setting to develop essential independent living and social skills. Staff will work directly with assigned consumers, implementing personal and behavior plans and helping with skills such as hygiene, medication management, food preparation, budgeting, and social interactions.
The role involves maintaining a safe and supportive environment, de-escalating crises, modeling professional behavior, and transporting consumers to appointments as necessary.
Staff will work closely with team members to develop individualized service plans, document progress, and maintain the facility’s cleanliness, contributing to a structured and supportive community.
Additional duties include:
- Assess and evaluate nursing and medical needs of patients; initiate and direct implementation of nursing care plan; observe, evaluate, and record patient behavior, condition and response to medications, treatments, therapeutic activities; provide professional nursing care (administer medications and treatments as ordered by physician, educate patient on medications, assist with physical examinations, take and record vital signs, perform venipuncture); respond to emergency situations (codes, suicide, assault).
- Direct delivery of and evaluate psychiatric and nursing care of patients as delivered by professional and nonprofessional staff; monitor medication administration, documentation, patient care and operation of medical equipment; provide support for nursing staff.
- Prepare, review, implement and update records, reports and plans; transcribe and verify doctor’s orders; write nursing summaries; participate in ongoing performance improvement and quality assurance.
- Serve as an interdisciplinary treatment team member; perform a variety of miscellaneous duties (light housekeeping in patient areas, identify and report safety concerns, attend required trainings, schedule unit shift breaks and lunch).
This hourly position is covered by the Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 bargaining unit. Normal working hours and shifts are 12‑hour and 8‑hour shifts, totaling 80 hours per pay period. Shift schedule: 1st shift (6:30 am‑3:00 pm, 6:30 am‑7:00 pm), 2nd shift (2:30 pm‑11:00 pm, 10:30 am‑11:00 pm), 3rd shift (10:45 pm‑6:45 am, 6:30 pm‑7:00 am) with every other weekend and holiday off. The position is located within Appalachian Behavioral Healthcare Campus at 100 Hospital Drive, Athens, Ohio 45701.
Unless required by any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code, the selected candidate will begin at Step 1 of the pay range schedule listed above, with an opportunity for pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.
Additional Salary / Appointment Information- $36.01 per hour with the first increase in 180 days to $37.75.
