Under general supervision from equipment or maintenance superintendent, administrative superior, operates heavy motorized equipment and performs minor repair on equipment.
* adheres to all osha and/or ohio university required safety guidelines. Established pattern of good work habits and performance with good interpersonal skills.
* operates any combination of the following heavy motorized equipment illustrated by but not limited to: complete variety of construction in maintenance projects (i.e., cherry pickers, 4-6 ton compactor, 7 ton dozer, excavator, over 23,000 lb. Grader, low-boy, mud jack, backhoe, tractor and trailer, pull type paver, pavement grinder, 8-10 ton roller, truck mounted sewer cleaner, steamer, hand and hot liner striper, 10 ton sweeper, lowboy 10 ton tractor, 25,000 lb.
To 35,000 lb. Dump truck, all boom, platform and/or pounder trucks, traffic line remover, vac-all sweeper) and also operates any or all pieces of equipment operated by an equipment operator 1 as needed
* makes minor repairs and adjustments to heavy motorized equipment (e.g., greases and oils machinery; checks tires and lights)
* performs general labor, maintenance and other related functions; loads and unloads materials; checks for damages; completes reports and other paperwork
* performs other related duties as required
Minimum qualifications
* skill in operation of heavy motorized equipment, maintenance and repair of motorized equipment.
* ability to cooperate with coworkers on group projects
* ability to complete routine forms and reports.
* ability to carry out instructions in oral, written and pictorial form.
* ability to work independently or with others.
* willingness to foster a welcoming and respectful workforce and community
* demonstrate dexterity and skill in use of craft-associated hand and/or power tools and equipment.
* ability to read and write common vocabulary in sentence structure.
* ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, calculate fractions, decimals and percentages.
* ability to apply principles to solve practical problems.
* knowledge of all applicable osha and/or ohio university safety guidelines and procedures.
* ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
* 24 mos. Training and/or experience in operation of above equipment; or equivalent.
* valid driver's license and valid class a commercial driver's license (cdl) with air brakes endorsement in accordance with section 4506.01 of revised code; renewal of cdl as necessary, if required based on vehicles operated.
* successful completion of a test may be required.
* may be required to work outside in all weather conditions
* established pattern of good work habits and performance with good interpersonal skills.
