We are looking for a Cost Accountant to join an active accounting department in McMinn County.
You’ll be responsible for performing cost analysis and preparing budget reports. You should possess excellent analytical skills along with the ability to combine different data and calculate profit margins. The ideal candidate should be able to create detailed reports that present cost-effective solutions for the company. Ultimately, you should build updated databases and manage cost information to maximize profitability for the company.
Responsibilities- Collecting and analyzing data about the company's operational costs
- Setting standard costs of manufactured goods
- Developing and analyzing cost standards
- Carrying out cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis, including for small businesses
- Establishing costs of business processes such as administration, labor, shipping etc.
- Performing account reconciliations
- Preparing financial reports and presenting their findings to management
- Recommending changes to the company's processes and policies to reduce costs and maximize profit
- Advising executives and upper management on appropriate costing based on financial data
- Manage bill of material, routes and other manufacturing time variables
- Analysis of purchase price variances within the business
- BSc degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant study
- Minimum of 3 year proven work experience as a Cost Accountant, Cost Analyst, Accountant or similar role
- Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Experience with accounting software (Net Suite, SAP, Oracle, etc.)
- Computer literacy, MS Excel in particular (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and pivot tables)
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
- Integrity, with an ability to handle confidential information
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced setting
