Job Summary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Athens is accepting applications for the position of full-time Residential/Commercial/Industrial Electricity Associate Instructor to be located at the Main Campus in Athens, TN. This position will work a minimum of 37.5 hours a week.

Salary

$56,263 - $67,517

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Vocational or Technical School certification, training, or apprenticeship required.
  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of successful work experience in the specialty to be taught, beyond the normal learning period, generally 4 years within the last five years.
  • Must possess all required licensures, certifications, and/or accreditation for the field.
  • Communication skills necessary to teach students;
    Teaching experience is preferred.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills to accurately convey information and to effectively present information.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the classroom instructional process: evaluate and monitor student progress; assign grades; provide academic assistance to students; maintain attendance and grade records; counsel and advise students on career goals; work to retain students; maintain required classroom and office hours.
  • Course and Curriculum Development: select texts, equipment, supplies, and other learning resources; participate in the purchase of needed program supplies and equipment; develop instructional materials; create and revise courses and/or curricula as needed; maintain updated course syllabi.
  • Professional Development: remain current within instructional field and technologies; acquire, maintain, and apply knowledge of current instructional methodologies and materials; attend scheduled college and division professional development and in-service activities; support related professional organizations; participate in the annual faculty evaluation process.
  • Service to Students: comply with FERPA laws; participate in advising, recruitment, admissions, and orientation of potential students; assist students with job placement; support student activities including Skills

    USA and NTHS.
  • Service to the College and Community: assist in the recruitment and selection of college personnel as assigned; participate in accreditation, assessment, and performance funding processes; support and participate in the College’s decision‑making processes; provide input and assistance with budgets; attend graduation exercises and participate in mandatory college programs; develop and maintain positive and cooperative relationships with colleagues; maintain an active program advisory committee;

    work to meet and exceed COE benchmarks for student completion and placement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or administration, on and off campus.
