RURAL CARR ASSOC/SRV REG RTE – Rural Carrier Associate/Special Route Employee Services

Athens, Tennessee or Niota, Tennessee. Applicants may also be required to work in surrounding post offices.

Non-Exempt, non-career position. Hours and days vary. Salary: $19.94 per hour, paid bi-weekly.

• U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien, citizen of American Samoa or any U.S. territory.
• Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record and at least two years of unsupervised driving of passenger cars or larger vehicles (including U.S. military installations worldwide).
• Must possess a right‑hand side vehicle.
• Available to work on an as‑needed basis.

• Sort and arrange mail in delivery sequence for the assigned route.
• Receive and sign for accountable mail; load mail into vehicle.
• Deliver mail to customers along the prescribed route, collect monies and receipts, and pick up mail from roadside boxes.
• Sell stamps, stamped paper, and money orders; accept C.O.D., registered, certified, insured mail, and parcel post.
• Provide routine information and requested forms to customers.
• Return collected, undeliverable, and forwarded mail, and submit monies and receipts to the post office.
• Prepare mail for forwarding, maintain change‑of‑address records, prepare daily trip reports, and maintain a list of customers on the route.
• Conduct special surveys when required, maintain inventory of stamps and stamped paper, and provide mail security at all times.

Immediately eligible for the USPS Health Benefits Plan with a USPS premium contribution. After one year of continuous service (no break >5 days), eligible for additional benefits: FEHB, FEDVIP, FSAFEDS, and FLTCIP. May receive Wounded Warrior leave where eligibility criteria are met.
