CAD Drafter / Residential Design Specialist - Athens, Texas

In this role, you'll play a key part in transforming concepts into detailed construction plans that help create high-quality homes for families across the country.

What You'll DoAs a member of our Design team, you will:
- Create detailed construction drawings from sketches, customer requirements, specifications, and engineering data.
- Develop floor plans, elevations, roof systems, plumbing layouts, electrical plans, HVAC duct layouts, cabinetry details, and other construction documents.
- Utilize AutoCAD and other design software to create accurate and code-compliant drawings.
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to ensure designs are functional and buildable.
- Modify and optimize home layouts and building systems to meet customer needs and manufacturing requirements.
- Prepare design calculations and analyses using approved software tools.
- Submit drawings and documentation to third-party agencies for approvals.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable residential and commercial building codes.
- Help solve design challenges and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Architecture, Engineering Technology, or a related field, OR equivalent professional experience.
- 2-5 years of AutoCAD drafting experience.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD
- Strong knowledge of residential and commercial construction methods and building codes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- You enjoy collaborating with others and working as part of a team.
- You're a quick learner who adapts well to changing priorities.
- You take pride in producing high-quality, accurate work.
- You enjoy solving problems and finding practical design solutions.
- You communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members.
