Job Summary
The Substation Technician maintains and performs repairs, modifications, replacements, and installation of a wide variety of electrical and electronic equipment systems while adhering to EEI’s Safety First Culture. This role supports the construction of new Substations as well as modifications and upgrades of existing Substations for Electrical Utility Companies. Per diem is provided when applicable.
Core Responsibilities- Work safely while assisting in new/existing construction and various tasks such as:
- Demolition
- Site preparation
- Excavating
- Back filling
- Landscaping
- Trenching
- Pole setting
- Cable labeling
- Read and understand system maps to become knowledgeable in general electric distribution system layout, system substation capacities and load areas, substation circuit feeds, and general system sectionalizing.
- Assist with installing transformer and transformer banks, bus structures and switch gear, lines (underground/overhead), ground grid, control buildings, and other related substation material tasks.
- Able to operate forklifts and maintain a valid forklift certification.
- Will work with man baskets, skid steers, shovels, compactors, backhoes and other industry equipment.
- Frequently work around energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care.
- Understand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
- Other duties as assigned by Management.
