Immediate need for experienced Staff Accountant to join corporate Accounting Department of leading National General Contractor. This individual will be responsible for the full maintenance of the general ledgers of a holding company and five subsidiary construction companies as well as the sales and gross receipts tax preparation. The Project Accountant will work closely with the entire accounting staff. This will be a dynamic position with hands‑on experience in several different aspects of corporate accounting.
Responsibilitiesinclude but are not limited to:
- Calculate and record accruals, overhead absorption, inter‑company allocations, fixed asset depreciation and amortization
- Prepare and file sales and gross receipts taxes throughout the year
- Maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist with month‑end close and preparations of financial statements
- Monthly bank reconciliations
- Balance and reconcile job cost and inter‑company accounts
- Administration of corporate credit cards
- Assist management with year‑end audits and tax preparation
- Assist management with preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts
- Ad hoc reporting, analytics, and internal audits as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
- A minimum of two years of corporate General Ledger experience.
- Basic to intermediate accounting knowledge as demonstrated by a four‑year degree in accounting/finance or relevant experience with GAAP accounting
- Moderate experience in cost and/or construction accounting a plus
- Working knowledge of Timberline/Sage software
- Self‑starting personality with good problem‑solving and analytical skills
- AR/AP experience is preferred but not required
- Experience preparing and filing SALT is preferred but not required
