Senior Manager, Accounting Strategy & Operations

Apollos Partners has been engaged to identify a Senior Manager, Accounting Strategy & Operations for an enterprise‑scale, multi‑division operating company headquartered in the Atlanta area.

Our client is a highly successful privately held organization operating at a significant scale, with a complex, high‑transaction business model and multiple lines of business. The company is known for its strong performance culture, collaborative leadership style, and emphasis on accountability and execution. Continued growth, system evolution, and enterprise‑wide initiatives have created the need for a senior‑level accounting professional who can operate broadly across the organization and drive results through influence and partnership.

The Senior Manager, Accounting Strategy & Operations will serve as a strategic partner to the VP of Accounting and senior accounting leadership, functioning as a high‑impact extension of the team. This role is ideal for a technically strong, project‑oriented accounting professional who thrives in positions with highly diverse responsibilities and broad opportunities to make a meaningful impact. Rather than owning a narrow vertical, this individual will lead initiatives, connect stakeholders, and help translate strategy into execution across the enterprise.

Responsibilities
  • Partnering closely with the VP of Accounting and accounting leadership to plan, prioritize, and execute enterprise‑level initiatives
  • Leading cross‑functional projects focused on operational efficiency, process improvement, and system or reporting enhancements
  • Serving as a bridge between technical accounting and business operations, translating complex accounting considerations into practical, actionable solutions
  • Driving accountability for timelines, deliverables, and outcomes across multiple concurrent initiatives
  • Supporting audit, compliance, and regulatory activities by coordinating efforts, resolving issues, and ensuring timely execution
  • Identifying opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and internal controls within a high‑volume, transaction‑intensive environment
  • Representing accounting leadership with confidence and credibility in meetings with senior leaders and functional partners
  • Taking a hands‑on approach to problem‑solving—investigating issues, assessing root causes, and recommending sustainable solutions
Qualifications & Requirements
  • 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong technical foundation
  • CPA required
  • Public accounting background (audit strongly preferred) with experience supporting complex organizations
  • Demonstrated success leading initiatives and projects without formal direct authority
  • Comfortable navigating complex, evolving environments while creating structure, clarity, and momentum
  • Strong communication and influencing skills across functions and leadership levels
  • Process‑oriented mindset with a passion for efficiency, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Experience working within large ERP environments preferred
Why This Opportunity
  • Highly visible, trust‑based role partnering directly with senior accounting leadership
  • Scope defined by initiative and impact rather than a narrow job description
  • Exposure to enterprise‑level initiatives and cross‑functional decision‑making
  • Opportunity to build a reputation as a go‑to problem solver and strategic partner
  • Clear runway into broader leadership roles over time based on performance and fit
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation and performance‑based incentives
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and eligible dependents
  • Wellness‑focused programs and resources that support healthy lifestyles
  • Retirement savings programs with company participation
  • Paid time off and holidays that encourage balance and sustainability
  • Short‑ and long‑term disability coverage and life insurance benefits
  • Employee assistance resources supporting mental health, work‑life balance, and personal needs
  • Meaningful exposure to senior leadership and enterprise‑wide initiatives that support long‑term career growth

We sincerely appreciate everyone who expresses interest in this opportunity. Due to the high volume of applications, we are only able to contact candidates selected for an interview. Thank You.
