Senior Tax Accounting Analyst –
Mercedes-Benz North America Corporation
As part of the Mercedes-Benz North America Tax Team, the Senior Tax Accounting Analyst will be responsible for tax accounting functions necessary to ensure income taxes are properly accounted for pursuant to IAS 12, including preparation of tax provision calculations, interpreting tax and accounting regulations, and developing disclosures for financial reporting. Some review of monthly staff-level work will also be required.
Responsibilities- Prepare tax accounting packages for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting of income taxes for various North American group entities, including planning periods and provision-to-return analysis. (60%)
- Lead or support projects focused on tax process automation and analytics, leveraging current best practices and tools (e.g., Alteryx, Power BI) to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the accounting for income taxes. (15%)
- Assist in preparation of regulatory and/or state reporting, statutory financial statements for legal entity reporting, and ad‑hoc analysis for external auditors (PwC), internal customers, and other parties. (15%)
- Ensure ICFR compliance to support management's assessment of internal controls over financial reporting related to tax accounting processes, including analyzing control documentation, making recommendations, and reporting findings. (10%)
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. at the time of application; relocation assistance not provided.
- Minimum 5 years of comprehensive work experience in accounting or tax, with income tax experience and exposure to IFRS
12 or ASC
740 a plus. - CPA license and/or a Master of Taxation preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree required;
Master's Degree preferred. Recommended majors:
Accounting, Taxation.
- Advanced data analysis and financial modeling skills relevant to tax accounting.
- Experience with process automation and analytics tools (e.g., Alteryx, Power BI).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); experience with SAP and Corptax a plus.
- Ability to interpret complex data, identify trends and variances, and communicate insights effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP and IFRS accounting issues in the financial services industry.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn new systems and business processes quickly.
- Ability to share knowledge and contribute to the growth of junior staff.
- Understanding of organizational structures and processes affecting financial reporting, and a sound understanding of company products and services to ensure consistent accounting and reporting treatment.
- Financial reporting analyst, external audit senior, accounting supervisor with emphasis on technical accounting and reporting requirements and IFRS standards, or Tax Senior experience.
