Senior Property Accountant

- Timely and accurately maintain the accounting books and records for assigned properties including preparation and review of journal entries, review of on-site closing reports, general ledger review, generation of financials, preparation of support schedules, and review and distribution of owners reports.
- Manage the liquid assets for properties through the preparation of cash flow reports, distribution of funds, timely debt payments, and initiation of capital calls.
- Generate third party accounting reports as required by owners/asset managers.
- Approve invoices for payment initiated by accounts payable associates as they process payables on a weekly basis to ensure timelines and compliance with established corporate policies.
- Understand and follow accounting‐related policies and procedures established by company and third‐party owners.
- Analyze, evaluate, and generate special reports as required by management and owners.
- Provide schedules of information for external audits.
- Assist on‑site associates in compiling and analyzing all relevant financial information to help the properties achieve the goals and objectives of the company and property owners.
- Effectively complete the timely reconciliation of all assigned bank statements along with research and resolving outstanding items.
- Accurately and timely collate, assemble, and distribute all owner’s report packages to appropriate parties.
- Accurately organize and file all accounting closing reports.
- Thoroughly understand the computer functions and support as required by management.
- Effectively communicate with accounting staff, support staff, and on‑site associates to ensure all required job functions are completed in a professional and personable manner.

EducationAn accounting degree is required. Position requires the ability to read and write English fluently.
Professional ExperienceA minimum of three years’ experience in the accounting field with sound understanding of generally accepted accounting principles. A background in real estate or property management is preferred.
Attendance/Travel RequirementsThe position requires the ability to work five days of the week, 52 weeks a year, but flexible to work beyond 40 scheduled hours per week to meet deadlines required by management. Minimal or no travel is required.
Licenses/EquipmentPosition requires the ability to use general office equipment including computer, printers, copy machines, fax machines, postage machine, etc.
Skills- The ability to manage and work well with associates while effectively completing tasks in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate ability to adapt to use of various accounting software.
- Sound understanding of generally accepted accounting practices.
- Strong accounting skills with knowledge of all facts of financial reporting including general ledger, balance sheet, income statements, and cash flow sheets.
- Ability to understand accounting‑related policies and procedures established by company.
- Strong written and verbal communications.
- Strong organizational and time management skills (ability to prioritize effectively).
- Willingness to work in a team‑based environment.
- Professional demeanor required.
- Support communities and other departments as needed.
- Special projects and other tasks or duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintain an excellent customer service relationship by adhering to the Gables Pledges of Customer Service.
- Adhere to the Gables Standard Operating Procedures.
- Excellent MS Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Successful completion of in‑house training in Yardi and various banking programs.
- Strong Internet knowledge.
