Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a skilled and meticulous Staff Accountant to support the financial operations of a private school in Atlanta, Georgia. In this contract role, you will contribute to maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This position provides an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative, mission-driven educational environment.

Responsibilities:

- Manage general ledger activities, including creating journal entries, reconciling accounts, and performing month-end closing procedures.

- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure timely and accurate payments and collections.

- Assist with payroll processing and ensure proper reporting of related expenses.

- Prepare financial statements and budget reports for review by school administrators and the board.

- Ensure adherence to accounting standards, school policies, and regulatory requirements.

- Handle tax filings and other necessary statutory reports.

- Support audit preparations and address inquiries from auditors.

- Conduct financial analysis for special projects and operational initiatives.

- Collaborate with various departments to address budgetary concerns and manage purchasing requests. Requirements

+ Bilingual Spanish preferred

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

+ Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience with a strong attention to detail, preferably in an educational or non-profit setting

+ Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel (pivot tables and vlookups), Word, and Outlook

+ Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and internal control practices

+ Knowledge of Blackbaud experience preferred, not required

+ Knowledge of Quick Books preferred, not required

+ Excellent organizational and analytical abilities with strong attention to detail

+ Effective communication skills to work collaboratively within a team

+ Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to a fast-paced environment
