Accounts Payable Specialist

Description

We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Analyst to join our client in Atlanta, Georgia. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who can step in quickly, manage detailed payables work with minimal ramp-up time, and support a busy accounting team with accuracy and sound judgment. The role is primarily onsite and offers the chance to contribute across invoice processing, reconciliations, vendor support, and related accounting activities.

Responsibilities:

- Review, code, and process invoices with a high degree of accuracy while meeting established payment timelines.

- Investigate outstanding items identified during bank reconciliations and resolve payment-related discrepancies through careful research.

- Compare vendor statements against internal records to confirm balances, identify variances, and correct exceptions.

- Reconcile organizational payables data with supplier records to ensure complete and accurate account activity.

- Tackle aged or unresolved accounts payable issues by performing cleanup work and recommending practical solutions.

- Support ACH payments, check runs, and other disbursement activities in accordance with internal controls and accounting procedures.

- Partner with vendors and internal finance staff to answer questions, resolve exceptions, and maintain smooth payment operations.

- Prepare and analyze Excel-based files for reconciliations, variance review, and other reporting needs involving large data sets.

- Assist with selected accounting duties beyond accounts payable, including additional reconciliations and related financial support tasks.

Requirements - Demonstrated experience in accounts payable with strong knowledge of invoice processing, account coding, and payment operations.

- Proven ability to perform detailed reconciliations, research discrepancies, and resolve complex payables issues independently.

- Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and formula-based analysis for large volumes of financial data.

- Experience working with ERP systems;
Oracle experience is strongly preferred.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage complex invoices and maintain a high level of accuracy.

- Effective communication skills for working with vendors and cross-functional accounting teams.

- Ability to succeed in an onsite environment and contribute immediately in a fast-moving accounting setting.
