Assistant Controller

We are currently seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Permanent Assistant Controller to join our dynamic Accounting and Finance team in the commercial services industry. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the daily operations of our accounting department. Responsibilities:

As an Assistant Controller, you will:

• Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
• Help with quarterly and year-end financial audit activities and the annual corporate financial controls audit.
• Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements.
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.
• Supervise and/or manage general ledger accounting functions.
• Work with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end.
• Develop and monitor business performance metrics.
• Oversee and manage the company's finance IT system.
• Work closely with the Controller to ensure smooth operation of all finance matters.
• Assist the Controller in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members.

The ideal candidate for the Assistant Controller position will have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or MBA preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
• Extensive understanding and knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
• Experience with the following or equivalent sectors:
  Industrial, Construction, Mechanical, HVAC, Field Services, Manufacturing, or other commercial services
• Strong proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with relevant accounting software.
• Prior experience with financial and accounting regulations and standards.
• Strong supervisory skills and the ability to manage a team.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
