The Staff Assistant supports management with clerical work, such as compiling materials for interviews, maintaining departmental records and files, payroll, answering telephones, taking messages, transferring calls, and providing information to the public. This position promotes excellence in customer service. It may require cross‑training for another position to provide backup for a department and supplement resources during certain times of the year.
Dutiesand responsibilities include:
- Maintain inventory of office supplies and order supplies for office and events.
- Ensure paperwork is delivered to central administration in a timely manner.
- Assist management with meal plan questions and changes.
- Ensure timely completion of timesheets, winter break forms, or any other HR related paperwork.
- Assist management with drafting and submitting reprimands and termination letters.
- Assist with payroll for areas of responsibility.
- Maintain and ensure accuracy in calendars, to include group dining, events, and closures.
- Assist in the coordination and execution of events.
- Assist in arranging meetings and scheduling appointments.
- Assist employees with any program needs, such as Onboarding, OneUSG, campus email, parking, or uniforms.
- Ensure employee administrative needs are met.
- Enroll staff for the Biometric Time Clocks; coordinate with staff, Panther Temps and student assistants on working events such as concessions for GSU games and special events.
- Relieve staff for breaks.
- Operate POS system and ensure cleanliness of areas as needed.
- PCI Compliance training to include credit card inspection log.
- Ensure cash handling policy and procedures are followed.
- Assist in deposit reconciliation and cash handling.
- Manage change requests.
- Process invoices and statements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED and two years of administrative experience; or a combination of education and related experience. Light typing may be required for some positions.
Preferred Requirements:
- Previous administrative/customer service experience.
- Previous cash handling experience.
- Previous experience in Panther Mart or similar systems.
- Light typing may be required in some areas.
- Physical requirements:
extended standing, walking, ability to bend, stoop, reach and climb ladders. - Ability to lift 35 pounds.
- Ability to work in all temperature conditions.
- Flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends and holidays.
