Location:

Mid‑town Atlanta Headquarters, Atlanta, GA. Hybrid role requiring a weekly onsite presence.

SREB’s Office of the President is looking for an Executive Administrative Assistant. The role is responsible for creating and maintaining a highly organized, efficient, and proactive administrative environment.

SREB is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization based in Atlanta. We are an organization of professionals committed to our mission: helping states and educators improve the social and economic vitality of the SREB region. SREB works with states to improve education at every level, from pre‑K through Ph.D. Our vision is that all students in the SREB region will have high‑quality educational opportunities that build on the rich diversity of the region and lead to productive, meaningful lives and robust economies.

Responsibilities
  • Serves as liaison with staff, representatives of other organizations and the public by obtaining and providing information, facilitating the resolution of problems and concerns and ensuring a timely response from the appropriate office.
  • Maintains a detailed calendar of events, meetings and other activities requiring the President’s attendance; ensures that the President is cognizant of the calendar and has all required information and other materials for such functions.
  • Receives and screens visitors, emails and telephone calls, providing information and resolving concerns which regularly requires the use of judgment and the interpretation of policies and procedures; prioritizes contacts for effective problem resolution and use of the President’s time.
  • Researches, compiles and summarizes a variety of informational or statistical materials; contacts representatives of various organizational offices to obtain materials on behalf of the President.
  • Attends selected committee and other meetings as required.
  • Relieves the President of certain administrative matters by following up on projects, transmitting information, and keeping informed of pertinent activities.
  • Acts as lead to all Administrative Assistants and Executive Assistants; coordinates the schedule for front‑desk relief; chairs meetings and shares best‑practice information.
  • Organizes and maintains various administrative, reference, and follow‑up files.
  • Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit’s service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a team.
  • Represents the organization with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public.
Qualifications
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Demonstrated customer service focus with the ability to exercise sound discretion, maintain professional maturity in all interactions, and respect for confidentiality.
  • Enthusiasm for technology, including proficiency in virtual platforms. (TEAMS, Zoom, etc.)
  • Exceptional organizational skills to support maximum efficiency of systems for the President’s office.
  • Exhibits a strong commitment to the field of Education and contributes effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives and activities and organizational mission.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment as well as a face‑to‑face environment.
  • Working independently to accomplish assignments and responsibilities using initiative and understanding to anticipate and complete tasks within established processes and expectations of the Office of the President.
  • Preparing clear and concise correspondence and other written materials including financial documentation in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Principles and practices of budget development and administration.
  • Polished techniques for dealing with a variety of individuals from various socio‑economic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, in person and over the telephone, occasionally where relations may be confrontational or strained.
