Business Development Manager - Construction
Burns & McDonnell is a global AEC firm seeking a Business Development Manager for the Remediation and Environmental Construction Team. The role involves client engagement, market development, and leadership of a high‑level national sales strategy within the industrial environmental construction market.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement business development & marketing activities for remediation & construction services.
- Lead client development and account management, fostering trusted advisor relationships.
- Screen opportunities, analyze market strategies, financials, and recommend equity investments.
- Capture, report, and own opportunities using CRM; develop pursuit metrics.
- Develop & lead go‑to‑market strategies for new offerings, continuously improving existing ones.
- Identify new business opportunities and lead pursuit process for significant projects.
- Establish and meet sales targets, communicate industry trends.
- Mentor, motivate, coordinate, and support national account managers and sellers.
Job Duties
- Engage clients to identify projects and articulate project delivery options.
- Increase awareness of environmental construction capabilities through proactive engagement.
- Perform market & client strategy reviews and develop strategic client plans.
- Oversee capture strategies for key client pursuits and support contract renewals.
- Collaborate with Burns & McDonnell global practices, business units, and regional offices.
- Participate in recruitment, training, and succession planning of staff.
- Provide thought leadership through articles, presentations, and trade shows.
- Enforce safety compliance, maintain strong oral & written communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction, or related field and 5+ years in marketing, business development, or sales (A/E/C industry preferred).
- Associate’s degree with 7+ years, or high school diploma with 9+ years, in similar roles.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience developing proposal presentations and pursuit strategies.
- Strong preferred: 15+ years in remediation & environmental construction market, proven business plan development, multi‑disciplinary team leadership, and recruiting capabilities.

Travel required:
50–70% client‑facing.
