Job Description

The Business Manager II works closely with the Assistant Director of Business Operations to support contracting, budgeting, invoicing, and regulatory compliance. The role provides financial and budgetary guidance for GHPC’s ARCHI portfolio and center‑directed work. This is an Atlanta‑based in‑office position.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain financial records of project subcontractors and provide financial assistance and guidance.
  • Monitor compliance with Georgia State University and sponsor requirements.
  • Work with subcontractors to develop budgets.
  • Review invoices for appropriate documentation and approval submissions.
  • Track and document subcontractor expenditures.
  • Prepare financial reports to be submitted to the sponsor.
  • Manage subcontract process for all department‑sponsored awards.
  • Process all department expenditures, including vendor invoices, staff reimbursements, consultant professional service fees, travel expenses, and speaker honorariums.
  • Guide senior management team members to ensure project expenditures fall within approved budget line items.
  • Serve as the liaison between subcontractors and the department.
  • Manage payroll actions for the department, including earnings distribution changes, prior period adjustments, stipend requests, and other payroll ad hoc requests.
  • Manage all processes related to budget creation, revisions, and alignments as needed.
  • Initiate closeout activities related to sponsored awards.
  • Assist in planning meetings, conference calls, and special events.
Essential

Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage, prioritize, and coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of pertinent software packages, OneUSG, Spectrum, and Panther mart.
  • Knowledge of business and financial management practices.
  • Knowledge of sponsored proposals and awards administration.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Computer proficiency, including the ability to use Microsoft Office.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and four years of administrative experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
